(Pooja Pal; Intern Journalist): Panaji: With the commencement of domestic flights from May 25 amidst lockdown 4.0, the Goa government wrote to the central government and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) seeking permission to conduct anti-body tests of passengers landing at Goa’s Dabolim International Airport. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane alleged that at the request of ICMR and Minister of Civil Aviation, the state government had said that the passengers going to Goa should be issued Corona Virus (Covid-19) negative certificate while boarding the flight.
Rane told reporters that he has requested the ICMR and the Ministry of Civil Aviation to allow them to do an antibody test of the passengers and issued them a Covid-19 negative certificate to enter the state via domestic flights from Monday. Such testing would help identify patients during screening at the airport to avoid transmission to the community, Rane said. There are 38 coronavirus cases in Goa out of which 16 have been cured.
The count of coronavirus-infected cases is inflating continuously in the country. At present, about 125k people are suffering from coronavirus. According to information provided by the Union Health Ministry, there are 70379 active coronavirus cases in the country at present. At the same time, out of total cases, 52272 infected people have been cured so far. At the same time, 3754 infected people have lost their lives. At the same time, the duration of the lockdown by the central government has been extended until 31 May. However, the government has allowed the state governments to decide regarding restrictions imposed in their states according to the corona situation.
