(Kajal Singh intern journalist): Cyclonic storm “Amphan” has caused a lot of damage in West Bengal. CM Mamta Banerjee has asked the Railway Ministry not to send labor special trains till May 26 in view of cyclone “Amphan”.
New Delhi: Cyclonic storm “Amphan” is the second severe cyclonic storm in India after the year 1999. “Amphan” has caused a lot of destruction in West Bengal. After this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked the Railway Ministry not to send labor special trains till May 26 in view of cyclone ‘Amphan’.
In a letter written on 22 May to Railway Board chief VK Yadav on behalf of West Bengal Chief Secretary Rajiv Sinha, it was stated that the state was severely affected by the “Amphan” cyclone on May 20 and 21, which caused the infrastructure Extreme damage has been done.
At least 86 people have died in West Bengal due to the cyclone. Officials are trying to normalize the situation afterlife is affected due to cyclone. In the wake of the Coronavirus, the lowest number of trains have been sent to West Bengal only after the introduction of labor special train service to send migrant laborers home amid the enforced lockdown.
In fact, Home Minister Amit Shah alleged in a letter that Bengal was not allowing its migrants to return. Later it was decided that it is not necessary to get the consent of the destination state for the operation of these trains. From May 1 till now, around 2,000 workers’ special trains have been run. In which 31 lakh migrant laborers were transported to their home state. So far, about 25 trains have arrived in Bengal.
